ACTIVITIES TO DEFINE
01
Training providers
02
Learning services
03
Education operations
Illustrative activity groups. The agreed scope describes the actual organization and work assessed.
YOUR OPERATING CONTEXT
Start with your actual activities.
Educational organizations may consider certification to improve the way their educational services are managed and evaluated. The intended scope should identify the organization’s activities, learners, delivery arrangements and relevant partners.
Describe whether the service involves classroom delivery, online learning, training delivered at customer premises or partner-operated programmes. Explain how content changes, learner feedback and delivery responsibilities are managed across those settings. The system should follow the educational process rather than stopping at administrative paperwork.
A DEFINED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Make the boundary clear.
Identify the organization, activities and locations to be assessed. Explain interfaces with customers, suppliers and shared functions.
STANDARDS TO CONSIDER
Match the standard to the management need.
Use these subjects as a starting point for your enquiry. Each standard has its own requirements and may have a different scope.
EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
ISO 21001
Educational delivery, learner needs and feedback.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT
ISO 9001
Customer requirements, delivery controls and improvement.
INFORMATION SECURITY
ISO/IEC 27001
Information risks, access and supplier interfaces.
BUSINESS CONTINUITY
ISO 22301
Critical activities, disruption and recovery arrangements.
Choose standards that align with your activities, objectives and operating sites.
SCOPE IN PRACTICE
Follow the responsibilities through the operation.
An organization delivering a programme through several training centres should clarify which centres are included and how partner arrangements are controlled. A common course name does not establish common management-system coverage. This scenario does not describe an EQRM client or an accredited academic programme.
Illustrative scenario, not an EQRM client case study or a prescribed control programme.
BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE
Bring the information that defines your scope.
01
Educational service categories and delivery methods.
02
Sites, partners and responsibilities for programme delivery.
03
Learner information and feedback arrangements.
04
Separate statutory, professional or academic recognition requirements.
Add approximate personnel numbers, a complete site list and any existing certificates. Mention planned changes such as new locations, services or operating shifts. These are enquiry prompts, not a complete audit-document checklist.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Education: common questions
Answers to common scope and application questions.
Which ISO standards can education organizations consider?
Relevant options may include ISO 21001, ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22301. They address different management subjects; select according to your activities and buyer requirements. The list does not make every standard mandatory or confirm availability for every proposed scope.
Does management-system certification accredit a degree?
No. An educational organization management-system certificate should not be represented as degree accreditation or a guarantee of professional recognition.
Can online and classroom delivery be considered together?
Describe both delivery methods, the programmes included and how responsibilities, content changes and learner feedback are managed. The proposed scope should make clear which services and locations are included.
Are partner training centres automatically covered?
No. Identify the centres proposed for inclusion and explain how the organization manages their delivery. A shared course title or brand alone does not establish certification coverage.
What affects certification cost and timing for education?
The proposed scope, personnel, sites, operating patterns and relevant programme affect assessment planning. Readiness and the response to audit findings also affect timing. Provide this information to request a quotation; there is no universal price or guaranteed completion date.
